Orbscan 112: This is the advanced diagnostic equipment for computerized imaging of the cornea. Developed by Bausch & Lomb, the orbscan acquires over 9000 data points in less than two seconds to give the most thorough map of the cornea. The orbscan also analyzes the elevation and curvature of the cornea on the front surface and unlike any current topography machines, analyzes the back surface of the cornea. Why is this so important? An important factor in getting the best results is determining if there are any problems, or disorders, of the cornea, and with this advanced diagnostic device, Selkin Laser Center can determine patients who are not ideal candidates. Furthermore, the Orbscan II measures the corneal thickness throughout different areas of the cornea. The coneal thickness is vital in determining the candidacy of any patient considering Lasik. Dr. Selkin prides himself on being very conservative on treatments, which why in over 45,000 laser vision correction procedures, we have never had a single complication from treating too deep into the cornea.*
